At a point in time where an 8 second SUV was unheard of, (but to the surprise of many!) high horsepower turbocharged SUVs are nothing new in the Middle East. For many years, the popular trend in the Middle East has been sand dune racing. That is, until the last decade, where asphalt drag racing has started to become more popular. Teams like EKanoo Racing have branded their name in a worldwide scale, making the drag racing motorsports world pay closer attention to what’s currently happening over in the Middle East as the team keeps breaking World Records left and right. But needless to say, they aren’t the only Middle East team pushing barriers. Teams like SubZero Motorsports are pushing hard and breaking records as well in various different platforms.
SubZero Motorsports driver Mohammed Al Jabri (piloting one of the team’s Nissan Patrol SUVs) blasted an firstname.lastname@example.org MPH this past weekend at UAE’s Yas Marina Circuit, becoming the 2nd Import SUV to break the 8 second barrier! The stock chassis Nissan Patrol is powered by twin Precision 76mm turbos mated to a VR38 GTR engine delivering 2,000+ whp tuned by Kami.
The SUV has got more left in it, as its 8 second run was its 4th pass and was accomplished at only 30psi. Stay tuned for future record breaking runs from this crazy SUV!
