Jett Racing Looking to Become the First 4 Cylinder in the 5s!!!

By Gabriel Ruiz

Everyone is familiar with the 1G and 2G Mitsubishi Eclipse (1990-1999), but few know too much of the 3G (2000-2005) version. Although radically different in concept from the DSM-versions of the Eclipse, Jett Racing went with the non-traditional 3G Eclipse as their choice to push the 4G63 platform to its extreme. Prior to the Eclipse, Jett Racing campaigned a 4G63-powered Datsun UTE, which is currently being driven by Kelly Bettes as part of their two vehicle 4G63 attack.

The Jett Racing Eclipse engine has been fortified with a billet 4G63 block & head in order to withstand its insane 1,900 WHP thunder powered by a sophisticated compound turbo system. The billet block still relies on the OEM-4G63 85mm bore and a off the shelf high performance crank, while the custom billet head still retains the standard OEM-4G63 rockers and lifters.

In preparation for this month’s Brisbane Jamboree, Jett Racing went testing back in June and promptly established a new 4-cylinder World Record when Collin Wilshire piloted the Eclipse to a 6.261 @ 229.31 MPH!!! Jett Racing will make their way to US soil after Jamboree, for the FuelTech World Sport Compact Challenge Oct 26-28 at Orlando Speed World Dragway, with both their Eclipse and UTE, where Collin’s goal is to become the World’s first 4 cylinder to run 5s.
